Buzzwole doesn’t have any signature moves, a Mega Evolution, or a Z-Move, so we’re going to borrow a page from the Pokemon TCG and suggest its Final Smash be the obscenely strong Absorption attack. It’d even have the benefit of using its bug wings to flap back onto the stage. Most of the Ultra Beasts have truly bizarre designs with disproportionate body shapes (we’re looking at you, Guzzlord and Celesteela), but the Bug/Fighting Buzzwole fits the classic fighting game character mold with its muscly humanoid body. īuzzwole Speaking of elements that were big in Sun and Moon, an Ultra Beast would make for a fine inclusion, so why not go with the jacked mosquito known as Buzzwole. For its Final Smash, why not go with its Z-Move Stoked Sparksurfer that sees Alolan Raichu surf into opponents on a wave of electricity. Imagine instead of Skull Bash, its side special was hoverboarding at high speeds right into the opponent. (Note that during E3 we already witnessed Alolan Vulpix spring from a Pokeball, so we’re nixing both Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Ninetales from our wishlist.) The doe-eyed surfer Pokemon would be our third iteration of Pikachu (the second being the returning baby Pokemon Pichu), but its heavier weight would mean more survivability and its Psychic typing would make for a few new tricks in its moveset. The alternate-type Alolan Pokemon were a huge selling point of Sun and Moon, so it makes sense that one of them would be featured in the new Smash Bros. Alolan Raichu While we are hoping for a brand new Pokemon and not a clone “Echo” character, if we had to get a copycat, then our wish would be for Alolan Raichu. For Zygarde’s Final Smash, its signature hard-hitting Ground move Land’s Wrath seems like a no-brainer. Each new form would essentially be a new fighter with stronger stats and more powerful moves. For Smash Bros., rather than switching between these forms by inputting a command like with Pokemon Trainer’s Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard, Zygarde could change into them as the game progresses, perhaps triggered by time passing, damage taken or energy charged up (think Cloud’s Limit Charge meter). In the Pokemon games, Zygarde starts in its small 10% dog form, grows into its 50% serpent form, and finally transforms into its 100% Optimus Prime form. Zygarde Adding Legendary Dragon/Ground Pokemon Zygarde to the roster is exciting because it would introduce an entirely new breed of fighter. For its Final Smash, let’s shake things up a bit and go with the high-damage Fire attack Flare Blitz. characters that utilize punching as their main method of attack, there’s no one who specializes in kicking, so Blaziken would add a bit of variety by filling that void in the roster. While there are more than a few Smash Bros. The Fire starter from Gen 3 is a Fire/Fighting Pokemon that uses its long legs to execute all sorts of far-reaching attacks like Blaze Kick, Double Kick and High Jump Kick, the latter of which could act as its special recovery move. And Blaziken is another that has proven itself in Pokken Tournament. and Blaziken is definitely towards the top. Ultimate’s change to quicker and more simple finishers, we’re opting for its Z-Move Never-Ending Nightmare that envelopes unlucky opponents in a mass of shadowy hands before detonating a dark energy explosion.īlaziken There’s a shortlist of Pokemon seemingly tailor-made for a fighting game like Super Smash Bros. We considered nominating its Mega Evolution for its Final Smash, but given Smash Bros. Plus, a Hypnosis attack to put opponents to sleep that could be followed up with a health-restoring Dream Eater attack would just be aces. Its ability to fire off Shadow Balls, become intangible and vanish, and use its disgustingly long tongue as a weapon would make it quite the tricky combatant. Just like Decidueye, Gengar also strutted his stuff in Pokken Tournament, which provides plenty of proof the smiling Ghost/Poison terror is a natural fit. Gengar Given Gengar’s immense popularity since the dawn of Pokemon, it’s a wonder why it has never shown up in a Smash Bros. And to cap things off, the flurry of arrows from its Z-Move Sinister Arrow Raid would make for an excellent Final Smash. The Grass/Ghost archer would make for an excellent fighter with its Leaf Blade for up-close strikes and its Spirit Shackle arrows that could function just like Link’s except they pass through opponents to hit multiple targets in order to give them a supernatural twist. Of the generation seven starters, Decidueye is arguably the most popular, not to mention it was already featured as a character in Pokken Tournament, so it’s easy to see how its moveset would translate to Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, so it only stands to reason that Decidueye does the same for Pokemon Sun and Moon in Super Smash Bros. Decidueye Greninja represented Pokemon X and Y in Super Smash Bros.
